 Calendar for 2008

The Sequoyah Hiking club plans short hikes often in the middle of the week to areas around Madisonville, TN in the southern section of the Cherokee National Forest or in the Smokies. Most hikes are less than 5 miles in length and are usually labeled as easy to moderate in difficulty. The club meets the fourth Monday of each month for dinner at 6PM at Bert's Restaurant in Madisonville, with the planning meeting to follow at 7PM. The club plans activiies for no more than a month or two in advance, so check this web page frequently if you wish to join the club on their hikes. With the hike is a name and phone contact. March 2008

Saturday, March 8 - Tellico River Cleanup - meet at the old Wal-Mart parking lot in Madisonville at 8AM to carpool to the Tellico District Ranger Station on the Tellico River Road. We will be picking up trash along the Tellico River Road and other nearby sites. We will be provided with trash bags and a T-shirt. Wednesday, March 12 - Fort Loudon State Park Hike - about 4.5 miles. Meet at the Madisonville old Wal-Mart parking lot at 9AM or Vonore at 9:30 AM. Contact: Johanna Cooley, 423-442-3643 (H)

Saturday, March 15 - Indian Boundary Lake Hike - about 4 miles. Meet at the Madisonville old Wal-Mart parking lot at 9AM or the Tellico Plains Hardee's parking lot at 9:30 AM to carpool, or at the trailhead about 10AM. Contact: Johanna Cooley, 423-442-3643 (H)

Wednesday, March 26 - Hike up to Whigg Meadow from Mud Gap on Cherahala Skyway. Meet at old Wal-Mart parking lot in Madisonville at 9 AM  or at the Tellico Plains Hardee's at 9:30 AM to carpool or at the Mud Gap trailhead on the Cherohala Skyway at about 10:15 AM (about mile post 3 in NC).
